The novel, published in 2020, tells the story of a group of friends who survived the fate of exile. What happened to them, and did they remain friends? What happened to those who left and those who decided to stay? Did time change them? Will that magnetic sense of belonging bring them back, or have their lives been completely scattered like dust in the wind? Padura begins to answer these questions, starting in 1990 and continuing through 2016 and US President Barack Obama's visit to Cuba.
