«The Pluralism Trap: Religion and State Among Palestinian Arabs in Israel».

The debate over religion and state in Israel has largely ignored the issues of Palestinian Arab citizens and their communities, while focusing almost exclusively on Jewish religious institutions and customs and their Jewish followers, who constitute the majority of the country's population. In many countries around the world, the debate over religion and state is remedied and refocused by addressing the issues of religious minorities and working diligently to resolve them. This calls for us to consider the relationship between religion and state in Israel as anomalous. Author Mikhaiyl Kirini presents a legal matrix that illustrates this anomaly and exposes its ugly face by appealing to specific constitutional values. At the same time, he also offers his criticisms of these values, arguing that those who pretend and attempt to be liberal and multicultural are, in essence, illiberal and coercive. This argument is suggested in the book «The Pluralism Trap,» which contains a set of clarifying tools and general qualifications for multiculturalism, enabling one to judge whether the nature of the relationship between the State of Israel and its communities is multicultural or not.
