The classical tafsir of Islamic scholar Imam Abdullah ibn Umar al-Baydawi (d. 685/1286). A complete commentary on the Holy Quran, medium in size, combining explanation and exegesis according to the rules of the Arabic language, and in it he establishes the evidence for the principles of the Sunnis and the Mu'tazilites. The author has abridged it from the commentary of Al-Kashshaf by Al-Zamakhshari, while leaving out what is in it of Mu'tazilites, and follows it with a mention of a hadith on the merits of each surah, and the reward for its reciter, but most of them are fabricated hadiths. Al-Baydawi also derived his commentary from “The Great Commentary of Al-Fakhr Al-Razi” and from the commentary of Al-Raghib Al-Isfahani “The Vocabulary of the Quran”, and he included some of the traces transmitted from the Companions and Followers, and he applied his mind to it with some jokes, subtleties and deductions in a wonderful style and precise expression. Al-Baydawi is sometimes interested in mentioning the readings, and he presents grammar without expansion, and he briefly discusses some jurisprudential issues when verses of rulings, and he tends to support his Shafi'i school of thought, and he also delves into discussions of the universe and nature when presenting cosmic verses, influenced by Al-Razi. This commentary is famous and popular in ancient and modern times, and it has been decided to be taught in many universities and religious institutes, and it has many commentaries.
