Translated to English from Urdu, this is a collection of poems written by the great philosophical poet Muhammad Iqbal (1877 - 1938). Shikwa was first published in 1909, and Jawab-i-Shikwa in 1913. They are noted for their poetic beauty and deep thought. The poetry praises Islam and its role in history, and mourns the situation of Muslims in modern times. Iqbal wrote his poetry in both Persian and Urdu, this collection from the Udru by A.J. Arberry.
