Ibn Taymiyya On Causality and Reliance on God (SC)

This book expounds upon Ibn Taymiyya’s theology, with an important selection from his works which affirm causality and the efficacy of causes, whilst also clarifying that one should only rely on God and affirm predestination. The extracts also show his emphasis on the necessity of striving for both religious and worldly good outcomes, and that one of the causes leading to good is supplication to God with sincerity. The extensive introduction expands on the text and provides a deeper exposition of Ibn Taymiyya’s theology, as well as providing context and the nuances for some of the more complex aspects of his thought so as to allow for reconciliation.
