«The Age of the Masses», by Dr. Jalal Amin. Over the past fifty years (1952-2002), which began with the July Revolution, Egypt has witnessed what the author calls the «Age of the Masses.» This era brought profound and dramatic changes to all aspects of social and cultural life in Egypt, unprecedented in its long history.
This book explains many of these changes, devoting a separate chapter to each: the press, the economy, culture, television, the telephone, supermarkets, fashion, birthdays, love, tourism, the relationship between religion and the world, etc.
Dr. Jalal Amin addresses all of this in a simple and accessible style, making this book an enjoyable addition to his previous book, «What Happened to the Egyptians?» , which achieved great success and popularity.
