Translated to Arabic, «Cousin Phillis» (originally published in English in 1864) by English novelist and short story writer Elizabeth Cleghorn Gaskell (1810 - 1865). Her novels offer a detailed portrait of the lives of many strata of Victorian society, including the very poor.
Summary: Paul Manning moves to the country at the age of 19 and befriends his mother's family and his second cousin, Phillis Holman, who is confused by her own position at the edge of adolescence
