The central premise of the book is a critical examination of how the Sunnah (the traditions, sayings, and actions of the Prophet Muhammad) moved from being a lived, contextual historical reality into a rigid, infallible theological source (Asl) within Usul al-Fiqh (the principles of Islamic jurisprudence).
