Translated to Arabic, 'Tractatus theologico politicus' (A Theological-Political Treatise) by the important 17th Century Dutch philosopher Baruch Spinoza (1632-1677). Spinoza has done a rational examination of the Bible, looking at its circumstances, and composition and transmission. He argues that freedom of thought and speech can be consistent with religious life and is necessary for the state to prosper.
