In 3 volumes, the original collection of rare expressions, an early Arabic dictionary by the Arabic language scholar Abu Obayd Qasim bin Salam (Sallam) al-Khurasani al-Harawi, (ca. 154/770 - 224/838), in which he listed the names and attributes of things and creatures, according to the subject and meaning. Abu Obayd was careful to classify the vocabulary objectively. This reference work was much appreciated by the ancient linguists.
