شعر بدغدغة في صدره، كأن يَرَقَة حَبَتْ بين ضلوعه بأرجلها الدقيقة. استكانت الدغدغةُ بُرْهَة، ثم عادت كَرَفْرَفَة أجنحة رقيقة، كَما الفَراشة تتسلل من شرنقتها، تسللت روحه من بين ضلوعه وحلقت فوقه، ابحة في الفضاء، تنظر إلى حيث يَرْبُض، حيث مسرح حياته.
كان في أروقة البرْزخ، حيث العابرون… لا يعيشون ولا يموتون. رون، يفقهون، يدركون. لا يحزنون، لا يفرحون، لا يخافون… يَسْمَعون ولا يُسْمَعون.
تعالت الابتهالات. اقترب الجَمْعُ إلى حيث يرقد جسده. رأى بعيني وحه نساء وأطفالاً ورجالاً، يرتدون أثواباً خضراء من السندس، تقاطر من أكمامها الفضفاضة قطرات المسك. أحاطوا بجسده المسجى وق التراب.
