In his village, there was but one path to God—until he moved to the city for his studies.
There, he discovered five paths leading to God and resolved to follow them all.
As time passed, he received news that his grandmother had fallen ill; he neglected his studies to seek a cure for her.
After the efforts of both doctors and clerics failed, only one hope remained: the home of the city’s Sufi master.
A novel that evokes the Yemen of the 1990s, a time when the entire country was taut... as if stretched upon a single string.
