Hinan min al-Daw' حينا من الضوء

Her face soars on high, caught between two winds: one from the East, rushing with sudden force toward the waters to snatch them from her hands; and another from the sea, revealing the hidden seams of the sand. She kept unravelling her braids, observing the paths of these shifting winds—wondering which one steals the water, and which one bestows a rose upon the branch. I, meanwhile, set about preparing the vessels of poetry, watching to see where, in the end, beauty might pour itself out. I wove the letters together with the overflowing grace that spilled forth—I had taken her into the depths of my own ribs, just to remain bound to my poetry: haunted by her in the mountains, and weeping for her whenever the clouds veered away, pouring their bounty openly into the sands.

"وجهها في الأعالي يحلق ما بين ريحين: ريح من الشرق تنقصف سرعة"، باتجاه المياه لتسرقها من يديها وريح من البحر، وقت لتكشف عن عروة الرمل!!... ظلت تفكّ ضفائرها لتعاين مجرى الرياح المغيرة: أيها يسرق الماء... أيها يهب الغصن وردته؟!!. وعكفت أهيئ آنية الشعر... وأراقب أين يصب الجمال أخيراً؟!! أو ألف بين الحروف وما سال من فائض الحسن.. كنت أدخلتها في ضلوعي لأبقى على قيد شعري: مصاباً بها في الجبال.. وباك عليها إذا انحرف الغيم عنها وصبّ علانيةً في الرمال!!
