Poetry from the Abbasid period, by Abu al-Fateh al-Basti. (d. 400/1010), best known for 'Qasiday al-Nuniyyah', a poem on raising one's life through good moral character. Busti, of Arabic descent, was born in the ancient city of Bost (today is Lashkargah, Afghanistan). He wrote poetry in both Arabic and Persian.
