Ahwasالأهوس

The novel (The Obsessed One) by Halima al-Satrawi centers on the inner world of a man—and his family—displaced and marked by loss due to war. The narrative weaves together actual events with the story of Najid, who finds himself in a land far from his homeland, family, and companions. He becomes a frequent visitor to the Alhambra Palace in Andalusia, captivated by the Fountain of the Lions in its courtyard and driven by a powerful sense of responsibility to restore it. His fascination deepens into obsession—particularly with the twelve lions surrounding the fountain—leading observers to remark: "And the thirteenth is Najid."
