«Those Places», an autobiography by Palestinian author Mahmud Shuqair (Shukair, b. 1941, Jerusalem). Each of us has a story. The stories themselves have stories. Our movement is linked to considerations of time and place, to the historical moment, and the freedom or non-freedom available at its time. In Jerusalem, between leaving and returning, Mahmud Shukair lived a lot: the city and its transformations, the enthusiasim and frustrations of his generation, the dreams of liberation and defeats of reality. Shukair recalls his story, but behind it is the story of the city and its people.
