'Seven and a Half Women', Arabic fiction by Yemeni writer Sumayyah Taha. This novel narrates the stories of seven women whose lives are interwoven by events of war. Sons and husbands disappear while women wait for a return that may not happen. Women do not make decisions of war, but they are always forced to live with the consequences of it, carrying the rubble of destroyed homes on their heads, and after the fighting is over, bearing the responsibility to restore home and lives.
