In this book, Al-Shatta takes us on a "Journey through the Levant," inviting us to join him in a quest for a lost era. Inevitably, such an endeavor culminates in a journey akin to a passage back to a beautiful past—one recaptured through a series of vignettes spanning twenty-four episodes. Al-Shatta penned some of these episodes in Damascus, others in Erbil (Northern Iraq), and still others in Antalya (Southern Turkey); yet, throughout it all, he remained steadfast in his devotion to his Levant—the Levant of all Syrians—that timeless land whose jasmine fragrance shall forever remain a source of solace and breath for every Syrian and every authentic Arab, for as long as days endure.
