The novel by Syrian writer Hussein Warur tells the story of a young Syrian man, Nayef, who went to Egypt to study acting, and fell in love with his classmate, Ratiba. He works in Egypt with an archaeological excavation mission. He receives a message from his father that his sister, Salama, has been absent from home for a while - and despite the search, she has not been found - and in fact, she has gone kidnapped with a young gypsy. He returns to Syria, then returns again to Egypt to continue working in art.
In its content, the novel sheds light on some historical events, such as the story of Akhenaten kidnapping 84 children of the princes of southern Syria to force them to declare their loyalty to Egypt. The novel's characters are distributed between southern Syria, Cairo, Upper Egypt, and the village of Ben Talha in Algeria, and in the places from which these characters emerged, going back to their historical roots. .
