Some posed the question only to subsequently evade it; others avoided summoning it altogether; while still others embraced it with profound seriousness, allowing it to catalyze monumental transformations—shifts so radical as to border on the traumatic for their disciples and for those familiar with their theories. Such is the singular virtue of truly substantive questions: they alter the trajectory of ideas and serve as a testament to intellectual courage. Furthermore, within these pages, I have posed the contentious and pivotal question regarding "the function of cultural criticism"—premised on the understanding that the true function of any methodology constitutes both its ultimate validation and the definitive sign of its vitality.
