Translated to Arabic from Turkish, a surprising and controversial portrait of Latife Hanim, by Turkish writer and journalist İpek Çalışlar. Latife Ussaki (Latife Hanim, 1898-1975) was Mustafa Kemel Ataturk's wife for 2.5 years in the early 1920's. The book sheds new light on Hanim, who was a well-educated, stubborn, smart and decisive young woman, a defender of women's rights who was publicly maligned for years.
