Translated to Arabic, «Konstantiniyye oteli»(Constantinople Hotel), by Turkish writer Zülfü Livaneli (1946-). The author draws a panorama of Istanbul to her readers. At the opening of a hotel built on the ruins of a Byzantine palace in the middle of Istanbul's Sultanahmet district, the invited politicians and celebrities mix with the servants - and the dead who have been buried there for ages. It tells about a successful business woman through Zehra's eyes, bringing the lower classes and even the souls of the dead together. Drawing on the deep-rooted history of Istanbul, the author hosts dozens of characters at the opening that dates back to Byzantium; It scrutinizes a wide range of human psyches, from relationships of power and management to romance and infatuation.
