Set against the backdrop of the Lebanese Civil War, the novel is a profound exploration of memory, violence, and the fragmentation of daily life during wartime. Like much of Khoury's work, it moves away from a traditional linear narrative, opting instead for a layered, experimental structure that mirrors the chaos of the era.
