Early Arabic poetry of a;-Walid ibn Yazid (90/709 - 126/744)The Umayyad caliph al-Yazid had an inclination for amusement, therefore he acquired a bad reputation. In this diwan, the poems and verses are numbered and stated with measures. The footnotes contain interpretations first, then explanations of the terms. The book also contains his double works (the Muzdawijat), one of the finest speeches he made about paganism. A supplement in the diwan includes works attributed to him and to other poets, a biography from books of biographies and literature, and indices.
