دائم على بيت السادات، وكما ذكرت السيدة جيهان كان يتناول عشاؤه كل يوم في بيت السادات، حتى اليوم الذي توفي فيه عبد الناصر كان من المقرر أن يتناول عشاءه في بيت السادات كما تروي السيدة جيهان في شهادتها، وحينما تولى السادات السلطة بدأ نفوذ الشاهدة يقوى شيئاً فشيئاً في مؤسسات الحكم والدولة بشكل عام، وكان القضاء على ما أطلق عليه السادات مراكز القوى، وهم المعارضون له عام 1971 منطلقاً لها لكي تساهم في ترسيخ أركان حكم السادات ودوره طوال سنوات حكمه من العام 1970 وحتى العام 1981.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eلهذه الأسباب ولأسباب أخرى، ولهذه المراحل الهامة كان لا بد أن تدلي جيهان السادات بشهادتها بشيء من الصراحة والوضوح والشفافية والجرأة في برنامج \"شاهد على العصر\" ضمن حوار مسموع ومرئي هذا وإن الحوار قد يصبح وثيقة ومرجعاً، لا سيما عند يتم بتلقائية وعفوية وصدق وعندما تحفظ تفاصيله ضمن أوراق السادات\" التي كانت السيدة الوحيدة التي أدلت بشهادتها في البرنامج حتى الآن، وهي الأولى التي يتم إصدارها في كتاب. وذلك باعتبار شهادتها كانت من أكثر الشهادات إثارة للجدل علاوة على أن جيهان السادات هي أيضاً شخصية مثيرة للجدل وبقيت كذلك منذ زواجها بالسادات عام ألف وتسعمائة وتسعة وأربعين وحتى وفاته عام واحد وثمانين، بل وربما حتى الآن. إلى جانب هذا التميز في الشهادة وبصاحبتها وفي الحوار بحد ذاته، أضفى أحمد منصور على هذه الشهادة تميزاً من نوع آخر عندما كرس لها هذا الكتاب حيث قام بوضع تصور متميز يخرجه عن كونه مجرد نص حواري إلى أبعد من ذلك، مضيفاً إلى نص الشهادة عدة فصول منها ما دار وراء الكاميرا من أحداث حيث جعل القارئ يعيش كل أحداث هذه الشهادة بدءاً من التفكير في اختيار السيدة جيهان السادات وأسباب اختيارها رغم أنها من الناحية الرسمية لم تتول منصباً رسمياً، مروراً باللقاء الأول معها، ومرحلة الإعداد الطويلة للحلقات والتي استمرت عاماً كاملاً، ومرحلة التسجيل والمونتاج وعرض الحلقات وردود الفعل والتي استمرت ما يزيد على ستة أشهر، وحتى الجلسة الأخيرة في بيتها والتي سبقت تقديم الحلقة الأخيرة من
