مجلس وزراء الصحة العرب. وضمت اللجنة في مرحلتيها عدداً من \"المؤمنين بوجوب التوحيد المتمكنين من المعرفة بالطب واللغة، من الأقطار التي فيها كليات طب وطنية راسخة القدم\".\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eوكان منهم عدد من المجمعيين الأعضاء في عدّة مجامع لغوية عربية في وقت واحد، وكانت اللجنة تعمد قبل كل شيء، إلى تحري لفظ عربي يؤدي معنى اللفظ الأعجمي، من بين الألفاظ العلمية المبثوثة في المعاجم العربية، أو المستعملة في الكتب العلمية القديمة، مفضلة في ذلك الصالح من الأقدم على الصالح مما يليه من القدم، ابتداءً بأطباء العرب الأقدمين في صدر الحضارة العربية الإسلامية، وإذا كان اللفظ الأعجمي جديداً لم تجد له اللجنة مقابلاً في لغة الضاد، ترجمته بمعناه كلما كان قابلاً للترجمة، أو ابتكرت له لفظاً عربياً مقارباً، بالاشتقاق أو المجاز أو النحت أو التركيب المزجي، مستأنسة في ذلك كله بما ابتكره السلف، وإذا تعذر وضع لفظ عربي باللجوء إلى كل ما تقدم، عمدت اللجنة إلى التعريب أو قل: الاستعراب، مراعية قواعده على قدر المستطاع، هذا وقد كان للعمل في المعجم الطبي الموحد وسائر متفرعاته فضل كبير على إيصال هذه المصطلحات لمن يحتاج إليها بعد القيام في المكتب الإقليمي بحوسبتها ونشرها على صفحات الانترنت وعلى أقراص مكتنزة.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eهذا وقد تمّ صدور الطبعة الرابعة من هذا المعجم، وكان منهج العمل فيها على الشكل التالي: 1-استعمال لفظة عربية واحدة مقابل التعبير الأجنبي، دون استعمال المترادفات إلا فيما ندر، وعند الضرورة القصوى. فبذلك يتحقق توحيد المصطلحات. 2-في حال وجود عدّة مترادفات أجنبية للمفهوم الواحد لأسباب تاريخية، عُمِدَ إلى ترجمة أصلها لتأدية المعنى، ووضعه في مقابلها جميعاً، مع الإشارة بجانب المترادفات الأخرى إلى التعبير الذي اتُّفق على ترجمته. 3-لم يتم اعتماد لغة أجنبية واحدة، مهما كان لها من السيادة، مصدراً وحيداً للمصطلحات الأجنبية، وإنما تمت ترجمة اللفظ الأجنبي الذي هو أفضل في تأدية المعنى، حيث تمت ترجمة اللفظ الإنكليزي أحياناً والفرنسي أحياناً، أو غيرهما من ألفاظ اللغات الأخرى، واستهداف دقة المعنى ووضوحه دائماً. 4-استعمال الألفاظ العربية المتداولة أو التي سبق أن استعملها علماء العرب الأقدمون. 5-الاجتهاد بالابتعاد عن الكلمات المثقلة بعدّة معان، ومحاولة إيجاد ألفاظ أخرى لا تشترك مع سواها بقدر الإمكان، ولا سيما تلك التي تشترك في حقل دلالي واحد. 6-اللجوء أحياناً إلى النحت أو التركيب المزجي، إذا كانت اللفظة المنحوتة مقبولة، أو شائعة،
