Translated to Arabic, 'Orient-Occident: la fracture imaginaire' (East and West: The Imaginary Divide), by Lebanese economist, thinker and author George Corm (b. 1940). Corm explains why the divide is actually an'imaginary divide', hiding the actual interests of secular powers. Going to the sense of the unbridgeable gap between Eastern, Muslim and Western civilizations, he explains 19th century emergence of stereotypes; the East being mystical and archaic; the West being materialistic.
